Jury Return Not Guilty Verdict In Encro Case At Birmingham Crown Court

After a 9 week trial at Birmingham Crown Court, the jury today (Friday 1st December 2023) returned a NOT GUILTY VERDICT.

Shuby Murria represented AS. It was the Prosecution’s case that AS was the user of 2 Encro handles, and he was involved in the supply of over 40kg of cocaine, and had laundered just under £1,000,000.00.

The Prosecution relied upon a number of experts to prove attribution of the Encro handles. They also put before the jury a number of strands of evidence which they said proved that AS was the user of the Encro handles.

Following very careful consideration of the evidence and detailed preparation by Shuby Murria the trial commenced on 2nd October. Shuby Murria instructed Mr Justin Rivett and Chiara Maddocks (both of 25 Bedford Row). Counsel had come into the case very late. Both worked tirelessly in the case, being well supported by Shuby Murria.

The jury had been in retirement, considering verdicts, for 28 hours. At 12 noon today (Friday 1st December 2023), the foreman of the jury returned a NOT GUILTY VERDICT in respect of the charge of Conspiracy to Supply Class A drugs.

AS was discharged from the dock by the Judge and left court a free man. AS had benefited from bail throughout the proceedings as a result of a bail application that Shuby Murria had made at Birmingham Magistrates Court.

AS commented as follows: “There is no doubt that I was represented by the best legal team I could have ever dreamed off. Shubs Murria was instructed on my case in August 2020 when I was first raided by the NCA. His support and dedication to my case has been invaluable, I owe him my life. My barristers were amazing, they couldn’t have done anymore for me.”

Shuby Murria is one of the leading Solicitors dealing with Encro cases. He had been instructed on over 20 Encro cases.
